GenCon Indy 2015

July 30, 2015 – August 2, 2015

Hey GAMERS’ it is that time of year again! That’s right it is GenCon Indy 2015!

This year I can say it is the largest gathering of gamers for GenCon Indy history.

As it says on the GenCon website and advertising: Gen Con is the original, longest-running, best-attended, gaming convention in the world!

Featuring hundreds of game companies, award-winning authors and artists, costumed attendees, more than 15,000 events, a Family Fun Pavilion, and the debut of exciting new games, Gen Con truly is The Best Four Days in Gaming™!

Indianapolis has opened up this year with a bang!

There were some festivities starting off GenCon on Wednesday but I was not able to go partake in any of them.  One of the most advertised was the Henchman Comic Signing Tour! Ryan Howe (artist) and Jamison Raymond (artist) of Henchmen was selling and signing their run of I, Henchbot at Aw Yeah Comics in Muncie from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, then at Downtown Comics off Monument Circle from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM during their extended Gen Con hours.

Starting on Thursday it is an awesome time for downtown Indianapolis, including the surrounding hotels and businesses. They are all decked out for GenCon to welcome the estimated 57,000 gamers and people bringing business to Indianapolis! It is truly a great time to be a gamer in Indy or just a people watcher to see all the characters invading downtown Indy.

Take a good look at the programing schedule. There is as always just so much going on at GenCon that some things take place overnight all four days. You name it, it is probably going on somewhere during GenCon. Its not all gaming, there is dancing, music, art, stories, movies and so much more.

This year Gen Con has reached an agreement with local Sun King Brewing company to return as a Promotional Partner for 2015, brewing an official beer specifically for the convention for the fourth consecutive year. As part of this agreement, Sun King again will operate an outdoor, ages 21 and older beer garden. There is even a special collectors can for you to get.

This year has been a blast! I partook in more game demonstrations that I usually get to at GenCon. I a can say that over the several years I have been attending GenCon Indy I started as a non gamer but now, I enjoy the many types of games that there are. I may not be that good at them but its all about having fun and GenCon Indy truly a place to game, costume as your favorite character, meet up with friends and just have fun weather you are a hardcore gamer to the casual observer to a newbie or just wanting to have a look.

I want to thank all the people that I got to meet and talk to about gaming. I got to partake in a few demos and learn some new things that really makes the gaming community fun to be part of. Heck I even found out that there is a local gaming communtiy that gets together on the weekends, and I have a few freinds who go to it. So I might just start hitting that up when they get together and have a game night.

There is a lot in the gaming community. So much to do to pass the time (good or bad).

Looking forward to next year!
