FIERO Dash Corners

This is probably the most common damage done to the inside of any FIERO, you know what I am talking about... cracked or smashed dash corners.

I am not going to replace the dash. Instead I am going to add on the Dash Corner Caps from The Fiero Store. I hope they will keep the corners from ever smashing into pieces ever again.

This is what my dash corners look like on my FIERO.
Nasty! So naturally they will have to be fixed.

I did my reseach and looked at ways other people fixed their broken corners on their Fieros. Most just fill them in with an epoxy and paint them. I really do not like that idea.

What to do...

Broken Fiero Dash Corners

These are the Dash Corner Caps from The Fiero Store. As you can see they are vac formed plastic. They do have the dash texture on them which is nice. They are pre cut but you still have to trim and fit them for a proper fit.

They do not come with instructions so you have to be careful and pay attention to what you are doing when it comes time to trimming them.

I am testing the fit on the driver's side. They do not seem to be that bad. With a little trimming and proper fitting I think they might work.

I marked the inside of this piece so I would know it was the driver's side and not mix it up with the passenger's side dash corner cap.

This is the passenger's side. This side seems to fit a little nicer than the driver's side. Again they have to be cut and trimmed for a proper fit.

I washed the Dash Corner Cap covers before giving them some paint. I painted them with the Dark Charcoal interior paint from The Fiero Store.

The paint matches very close to the original interior color. It just looks a lot more shinny since it does not have 29-years of age to it.

Here is the driver's side Dash Corner Cap cover finsihed. I cleaned up the precut vent top since it was not cut straight. I also had to cut out the bottom of the Dash Corner Cap so you can get to the front decklid release lever.

As I was trimming and fitting the Dash Corner Cap cover I went ahead and filled in the broken area on the dash with some epoxy just so it is more solid and stable.

I went ahead and trimmed and cleaned up the broken area of this dash corner and filled it in with some epoxy as well.

Fiero Dash Corners Fix

The thing to remember about these Dash Corner Cap covers are that they are covers. That means there is an edge all the way around where they slide into place over the broken dash vent corners. It is something that I can live with, it does not bother me. I am just happy to have solid dash corners on my Fiero.

To adhere the Dash Corner Cap covers to the dash I applied a little glue and slide them into place. I am happy with how this inexpensive fix turned out.
